An exciting opportunity has arisen within a thriving business in Exeter, for an Property Litigation Solicitor to join their in-house legal team. The ideal candidate will be someone with experience of working within property litigation law, ideally with a minimum of around 6 years' PQE. Most of the legal team work on non-contentious matters, however, you would be an integral part of the team, while also nurturing and managing a Property Litigation Legal Assistant. The environment is modern, professional, but also fun, while there is an opportunity to take on more and more responsibility as time goes by. This is an integral role within the department and is a role that brings lots of responsibility and variation.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending meetings as required
- Dealing with or overseeing householder litigation (including Code applications and ADR) on behalf of the Group
- Working collaboratively with the Group Director of Legal Services, MDs, customer care teams and others to mitigate the chances of litigation including the provision of training and Group instructions
- Monitoring the work conducted by external litigation solicitors including cost spend and risk analysis
- Acting as the “hub” through which referrals to external solicitors should be made
- Undertaking non-householder claims (by and against the company) as required by the Group Director of Legal Services and regional operating companies
- Supervising and training junior staff in litigation
- Providing advice on litigious or potentially litigious land law issues and commercial issues as required
- Giving training to IHLD, Group teams and OpCos as required on litigation mitigation issues and the like.
Skills and experience required:
- A qualified lawyer within Property Litigation, with a minimum of circa 6 years' PQE
- General Property Litigation experience... we're aware that people won't have all the in-house experience that we're after and that's fine
- A real focus on team work and the ability to lead and develop other members of the team
- Personable, motivated and organised individual with experience of working in a busy office environment
- Ability to proactively deal with confidential matters
Hours and Benefits:
- 09:00 - 17:00 (or 08:30 - 16:30) Monday to Friday
